Friday nights, as you light your candles, the flames flicker gently, casting a glow in your home, filling the air with joy and serenity. You kiss your children, wish them a Git Shabbos, and thank Hashem for the gift of family and health.
But just a short distance away, in another home, it’s dark. Yes, she is lighting candles, but they are plastic tea lights, in the sterile atmosphere of a hospital ward. The room is cold, and the hospital bed is a constant reminder of the battle she is facing.
Our Shabbos Hi Melizoik program unites thousands of women through a simple yet powerful gesture – giving £1 at candle lighting.
Your contribution will directly fund our special Shabbos Services and offer invaluable respite, giving cancer patients and their families the strength to battle on.
Each year, over 50 couples facing cancer in their family take part in a Shabbos of hope and inspiration.
From five-star accommodation to uplifting musical entertainment, every detail is perfectly arranged to create a truly memorable Shabbos.
We offer a complimentary weekend retreat in the countryside for families affected by cancer.
This getaway provides them with a much-needed break, so they return home with renewed strength to face the challenges ahead.
“Being that my husband is off work, money is tight. Your grant towards our Shabbos getaway was just perfect for the two of us. We feel energised and rejuvenated, ready for the next part of our journey.”
When our support workers know someone has had a difficult week, they personally arrange and send Shabbos packages.
These packages include treats like flowers or cake, as well as thoughtful gifts to help ease discomfort.
'My kids were so excited to receive the Shabbos package with all their favourite goodies. Unfortunately, I will be in hospital over Shabbos, but hearing the excitement in the kids' voices brought tears to my eyes.”
Yes! With your support, we can continue to run our Shabbos Hu Melizoik services. With over 2,000 members, every £1 adds up and makes a huge impact.
We ask for a commitment of one year. After that, your donations will continue unless you request to stop or make any changes.
While we do receive grants, they do not cover the full scope of our expenditure and are becoming increasingly difficult to access. This makes us rely more on community-funded projects, like Shabbos Hu Melizoik, where your help allows us to provide the support our patients depend on.
"We were spiritually inspired, physically energised, and emotionally recharged to keep going after spending time connecting with others who are struggling through the same challenges as us."
