Prostate Cancer

What it is:

Prostate cancer develops in the prostate gland, part of the male reproductive system. It’s one of the most common cancers in men and often grows slowly at first.

Symptoms:

  • Difficulty urinating
  • Needing to pass urine more often (especially at night)
  • Weak urine flow
  • Blood in the urine or semen

These symptoms are common as men get older and are often not cancer, but any persistent or concerning changes should be checked.

Diagnosis:

Tests may include a PSA blood test, rectal examination, MRI scan, and biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

Treatment:

There are different treatment options available, depending on the type and stage of the cancer. If you are diagnosed, your doctor will explain what’s best for you and guide you through the next steps.
