Cancer Awareness
Pancreatic Cancer
What it is:
Pancreatic cancer starts in the pancreas, an organ behind the stomach that helps with digestion and blood sugar control. It often develops quietly and may not cause symptoms early on.
Symptoms:
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
- Tummy pain
- Back pain
- Loss of appetite
- Unexplained weight loss
- Ongoing tiredness
Indigestion, back pain and tiredness are common complaints. If symptoms are new, persistent, or unexplained, it’s important to seek medical advice.
Diagnosis:
Doctors may use blood tests, scans (CT, MRI, or ultrasound), and sometimes a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment:
There are different treatment options available, depending on the type and stage of the cancer. If you are diagnosed, your doctor will explain what’s best for you and guide you through the next steps.
